Adam Posener wins 1st Rnd RNC at COGA: Posener’s MMA Vancouver
Here are some details of the experience:
I guess as technology improves video weigh ins will become more common, which is what we did on Friday.. Adam only had a couple of pounds to lose make the 170 lb welterweight limit on the day, as most of the weight, from 183 ‘ish’, was lost via diet and calorie restriction with some water loading on fight week. Perhaps in the future we will have Metaverse weigh ins…Pros still had to attend live…but whatever… that was a first; video weigh in… Kinda nice…
Adam’s 3rd fight was a tough challenge, considering his experience of 2-0… His opponent was on a 5 fight win streak, 4-1 in MMA with 3 or 4 finishes largely with striking, a recent full Muay Thai fight with elbow pads, that we happened to see on IG, as those are not on the record, and he is a boxing coach at Team Salverry, which means he has exceptional coaching and instruction. The head coach of Jeremiah is a long time top UFC contender, who I had the pleasure of meeting and training with briefly many years ago at AMC; around ’98. We shared a warm greeting and non verbally acknowledged this event is going on without any ‘misunderstandings’ , as we sometimes like to say… Anyways…. a little memorabilia..
Jeremiah looked determined and composed… Adam also…same…
Here is a description of the fight from memory: Both fighters seem determined and composed…. We have been developing some strategies for this contest and in the initial stages defensive to offensive entries were the objective and then control on the ground to a potential finish…
Adam started with 2 or 3 inside and outside low kicks, which did land and Jeremiah did counter with some punches, jabs particularly, which Adam was able to enter off of and get a double leg entry, which was quite deep. Adam was able to get his hands together after pressuring to the cage and get the ‘classic’ lift and dump to side control. Jeremiah was defending quite well but Adam did have tactics available to keep Jeremiah down, as we have seen from a couple of his other fights that he is often able to get back to his fight very nimbly and athletically… like a cat…
Adam worked from side control to mount with good pressure and clean position change. He almost had a head and arm choke, as it appeared from my observation but Adam kept the mount because he felt the choke was being defended well. Adam kept the mount and Jeremiah tried to defend with some cage tactics but Adam was able to keep the back, a forte, and after using a ‘Spladle’ was able to sink in the Rear Naked Choke, RNC, at the 2:28 second mark of the First Round.
Adam has been working very hard with consistent discipline for this event and in general… Huge Thank You goes to his team: Matt Kwan of On Guard BJJ, Bibiano Fernandes of Revolution Fight Team, Dejan Kagic and Cole Smith of Universal Fight Team, and, of course our Awesome Instructor Team….
Adam has also been doing a great job teaching the MMA on Wednesday’s and documenting the techniques on the online Academy, which only costs $10 per month. All students should get on it… It is an excellent tool to increase learning and progress… Contact him on IG Adam@Primetime_era … and his private sessions are picking up…. He is only charging $60 for a session, typically and Contact him on IG for that also…
So…. Perhaps a amateur title shot next….. ?…. Seems reasonable….. We see….
